How to place floor mats?
★The placement of the lobby floor mat directly affects its functionality, and a reasonable layout can maximize the effectiveness of the rubber floor mat. Traditionally, it is believed that floor mats only need to be placed inside or outside the door, but modern home research has shown that the scientific approach is to use a dual protection system – placing a rubber floor mat with complementary functions outside and inside the door19. This layout can form an effective “dust removal defense line”, blocking the vast majority of dust before entering the house.
★The rubber floor mat outside the door is the first barrier to resist external pollution. Dark colored rubber floor mats with three-dimensional patterns should be selected, which can effectively “scrape” away larger particles such as soil and sand attached to the sole of the shoe. The size of the floor mat outside the door is recommended to be 20-30 centimeters larger than the width of the door to ensure that both feet can fully step on it when entering and exiting. Considering the outdoor environment, the rubber floor mat outside the door should have UV resistance and weather resistance, and be able to withstand sun and rain without easily aging or deforming. During installation, anti slip gaskets or double-sided tape can be used to fix the floor mat to prevent it from being blown away by the wind or stepped on and displaced.
★The rubber floor mat inside the door serves the functions of fine filtration and comfortable experience. For indoor mats, it is recommended to choose rubber composite materials with relatively soft texture, which can have short velvet or delicate texture on the surface, which can capture small dust and provide a comfortable stepping sensation. In terms of color, you can choose a color tone that is coordinated with the interior decoration, which is both practical and beautiful. One important function of the mat inside the door is to prevent and cool off when changing shoes. The insulation performance of rubber material is better than that of ceramic tiles or wooden floors, making it more comfortable to stand barefoot in winter. The interior mat of the door can also be designed with a locking connection system, which facilitates the splicing of multiple pieces and is not easily displaced, maintaining a clean appearance.
★For the entrance hall of special apartment types, the placement of rubber floor mats also needs special consideration. The narrow entrance hall can be paved with strip-shaped rubber mats along the walking direction; The spacious entrance hall can choose large combination rubber floor mats, or even customize specific shapes; For small apartments without obvious entrances, a multifunctional rubber floor mat can both remove dust and serve as a visual boundary for shoe changing areas. Commercial places such as offices and store entrances should choose ultra durable commercial grade rubber floor mats, which are usually thicker, have stronger anti slip performance, and are often made of dirt resistant gray or black.
★From a feng shui perspective, there are also considerations for the placement of floor mats in the lobby. Traditional feng shui believes that the entrance is the “air outlet” of a residence, and keeping the entrance clean helps to facilitate the flow of positive energy. The easy to clean characteristic of rubber floor mats precisely meets this requirement, and regular cleaning of floor mats symbolizes “absorbing new and eliminating old”. In terms of color selection, according to feng shui theory, red rubber mats are beneficial for attracting wealth, blue is helpful for career, and green promotes health. Of course, these concepts are for reference only, and practical and personal preferences should be the main factors in actual selection.
